Pakistan has the third-largest unbanked adult population, with about 100 million adults without a bank account. With a staggering 2.4 million people and a growing need for economic inclusivity, a well-planned financial literacy program was the need. State Bank of Pakistan took the lead and launched the National Financial Literacy Program (NFLP) in 2017. Faysal Bank gained the honor of becoming a significant collaborative partner and has made headway into unbanked communities through Classroom Training Sessions as well as Street Theatre.

After running NFLP-I successfully over a period of five years and realizing the ongoing need for financial inclusion in Pakistan, the NFLP Steering Committee has decided to launch NFLP-II for the next five years (2023 to 2027) under the guidance of the Development Finance Support Department (DFSD) at the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). With well-laid-out targets, the teams on the ground were set to work, and the first cohort concluded in FY-2023 with a staggering 100%+ achievement by providing financial literacy to approx. 3,000 individuals in nine different districts, with a particular focus on the female population. Concepts of budgeting, savings, investments were part of the financial management skills that were taught, and set targets of conversion exceeded expectations. The attendees are now proud account holders and well-equipped to manage their financial plan.

In FY-2024, as part of NFLP-II, Faysal Bank’s teams will be in the following 15 districts, aiming to reach more than 3,000 individuals, with the message to increased financial literacy for better economic planning.
